John Mark Harrison Workshop, Brighton

John Mark Harrison Workshop, Brighton

John Mark Harrison is a composer, choral director and workshop leader from Vermont. He is coming to Brighton as part of his UK Teaching Tour in Spring 2016.

He says:

“My passion is the search for and development of an American choral tradition that integrates African-American Gospel music, jazz, blues, shape-note, rock and roll, country, and appalachian music. In my own compositions and teaching I want to combine these great American traditions to create a uniquely American choral music that is rhythmically sung and rich with story.”

It is going to be a lively workshop, supported by the amazing acoustics of Brighton Unitarian Church.

One of his compositions, Many Waters, was performed by OutAloud and Loud & Proud choirs at Various Voices in Dublin – see the video below.

The advance cost of the workshop is £25 full price and £22 concessionary price.
